Charitable Giving

The very first year, Theme Runs raised over $12,000 for local charities. In 2014 we started the year with a bang by helping the Anchors Aweigh clubhouse raise $7,640. By the end of 2014, we had helped charities raise over $63,000. In 2015, our goal was to help bring in over $100,000. We exceeded that goal and hit $111,000!

(NOTE! As we near the end of 2016, we have helped raise over $167,000 for local charities so far!)

To move events to the next level takes money. You can't simply hang up a few signs in the local grocery store and hope people will show up.

At Theme Runs it's our goal to elevate fun runs around the country so that they provide amazing experiences for the participants and significant amounts of money for charities.

To give a more in-depth description of how we are building our company to help non-profits, enjoy the Ted Talk by charity pioneer Dan Pallotta we've posted below.

Theme Runs donates to at least one charity for each race. We gave to these and many more over the years:

AIDS HELP provides case managed health care, housing assistance, and support services for HIV-infected residents of the Florida Keys, as well as HIV prevention and education.

Anchors Aweigh is a non-profit recovery club in Key West Florida and has been the primary garthering place where residents of the lowever Keys and visitors have turned for help, support, and safety for over 30 years.

C.A.R.E. (Cancer Ain’t Really the End) provides a weeklong summer camp and year-round activities to children who have or have had cancer and their families. A child is, first and foremost, a child – not just a cancer patient. They provide support, fun and friendship throughout a family’s journey. The Southernmost Coconut Castaways is a non-profit organization that volunteers at Theme Runs’ races and raises money for C.A.R.E. throughout the year. You can find more about them and C.A.R.E. on their website or meet them at our races!

Mote Marine Laboratory (Protect Our Reefs program) has been a leader in marine research since it was founded in 1955. Currently, they incorporate public outreach as a key part of their mission. Mote is an independent nonprofit organization and has seven centers for marine research, the public Mote Aquarium and an Education Division specializing in public programs for all ages.
